Do I Finally Have a Skincare Regime?

I got asked to put together a post all about my skincare regime by the Dollar Shave Club, which made me want to tell a little 'skincare story' if you will ahah!

Yes, you heard correctly - 'finally'. In my whole 18 years of life I have never been able to find a skincare routine that I have loved and worked fully to my advantage. Allow me to give a little bit of backstory...

I was diagnosed with a minor skin problem called seborrheic dermatitis, which is  'a red, itchy, flaky (inflamed) skin complaint; 'seborrhoeic' means that the rash affects greasy (sebaceous) skin zones such as theface, scalp and centre of the chest' at the age of around 5 or 6. I had unbearably itchy and dry patches, which were often scab like on my scalp, and flaky areas in the oiliest areas of my face, and when I was took to the doctors, they only provided a prescription for my scalp and not for the problem areas on my face. Over the years I have tried many different moisturisers such as E45 and Simple to try and get rid of the flakiness, but in effect made the oily patches even worse. This resulted in a lot of breakouts and in the end, I started using a bog standard, Superdrug's own make face wash for 'normal' skin, and it really wasn't working to my advantage at all. I decided to try some of Neutrogenas face products to bring my skin back to health, and I am so happy I did.

I first remove the bulk of my makeup with Simple makeup wipes, and rinse my face with warm water. I use the Neutrogena 'Visibly Clear Spot Clearing Facial Wash' in a good lather all over my face to remove any spot causing bacteria, and to help minimise the oils on my skin. I rinse off with warm water, and splash my face with cold water before patting my face dry. Before I apply my makeup, I use the Neutrogena 'Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Moisturiser' all over my face as a base instead of primer so my pores aren't as clogged.

There you have it! I like to keep it super simple and fuss-free because of my skins tendency to break out like crazy if I use harsh products. I also know that if I started using various serums, I'd never stick to it and my skin would hate me even more for that!
